In 6st of April, with the only show in Baltics, American electronic rock and triphop duet Phantogram will perform in Riga. The show will take place in concert hall “Palladium” for their latest album “Three” support.
Ticket sales will start on Friday, January 13, 10 AM in “Biļešu serviss” ticketing network. Ticket start price will be €29.
Phantogram was found in 2007, by two childhood friends Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel. They describe their music style as electronic rock, dream pop and triphop combination, characterized with words: “a lot of different rhythms, guitar sound whirls, terrestrial synthesizers, echoes and airy vocals”. For their authorities both musicians consider a line of artists from The Beatles to David Bowie, but critics mark special Portishead and Sneaker Pimps impact.
Despite the fact that most of the vocal parts are performed by Sarah, the lyrics are mostly composed by Josh. He admits that the mood in lyrics is pretty dark, even gloomy, but with “a drops of hope”. Especially, it refers to the last album, during which making process Sarah’s sister committed suicide. “[Mood was set by] anger and sorrow, and other things. Our lyrics has always been influenced by dark and personal depths, and that was as liberating, as motivating to show the pain”, both artists comment.
Their songs are melodious reminder for the fact that every fight generates growth and that with a small hope one can travel far ways.
Three studio albums have been released till now, from which the biggest hits are: When I’m Small, Mouthful Of Diamonds, Black Days Out, Fall In Love, As Far As I Can See, Don’t Move and, of course, You Don’t Get Me High Anymore from the latest album “Three”.
The last song for interesting enough have found Canadian rock band Three Days Grace, which perform in Riga with sold out show in last January.
Parallel Phantogram Sarah and Josh have worked with Big Boi from OutKast (took part in 2 of their albums), Skrillex, Flaming Lips and even with Miley Cyrus (Sarah participates in her song Slab Of Butter (Scorpion)).
Until now the band has performed in Latvia once, in Positivus Festival in 2014.
